Melissa and Kevin had THE COOLEST destination engagement session in San Diego, California. These two have such a fun outlook on their relationship, “We’re not the most romantic and don’t look for that picture perfect moment. Our favorite moments are us laughing and having a good time.” Being able to capture these kinds of moments between the two of them so that they’re able to look back on these memories and feel the way they felt then is exactly what we set out to do.

A Little Background

So a bit of backstory before we head to San Diego for their engagement session, Melissa and Kevin actually went to highschool together. The two didn’t interact much and didn’t start dating until college when they reconnected as Melissa was best friends with Kevin’s cousin. After a while of dating the two planned a trip to Puerto Rico together where Kevin proposed during an early morning sunrise. 

Maple Canyon

For their destination session we headed to San Diego’s Maple Canyon park to kick off their engagement photos. Maple Canyon has this amazing wooden bridge that became the perfect backdrop for our photos. From the get go I knew exactly what Melissa and Kevin meant about their favorite moments being them laughing and having a good time. From the moment we met up these two were a RIOT to be around and it made their session so much fun. 

Balboa Park

After we were done at Maple Canyon we headed over to Balboa Park. The park is a gorgeous space that hosts the San Diego Zoo, museums, gardens and much more making it the perfect destination for Melissa and Kevin’s engagement session. They both share a love for flamin hot cheetos, so naturally we had to work some into their session. It’s fun moments like these that make Melissa and Kevin’s love so special and what I LIVE for as a photographer. To finish off our session the two had a wardrobe swap and snagged some pictures with their convertible Mustang before cruising off to our final destination.

Torrey Pines State Park

We chose Torrey Pines State Park as our last stop for the engagement session and it could not have been a more perfect way to finish our day together. We hiked down the park’s path until we made it down to the water which was simply breathtaking for the sunset. Luckily enough were some of the only people down on the beach as well which was a nice added bonus. As far as destinations in San Diego go this is a must for any engagement session or even just to visit.

I had so much fun with Melissa and Kevin, we got to see some of the coolest destinations in the San Diego area and had a blast throughout their engagement session.
