There is a LOT that goes into wedding photography. Between the skills, the software, and ESPECIALLY the gear, there is so much that is involved in the photography of a wedding day. If you’re new to the wedding photography world, or if you just LOVE trying out new gear for your business, here are 5 wedding photography tools that I cannot live without.
Even with my smaller Sony camera bodies, carrying around two cameras for an 8 hour wedding day can be a LOT on your body. That’s why this Dual Camera strap from Etsy is at the top of my must-have list. Not only does it keep my body from aching weeks after a wedding day, but it also keeps my cameras safe from damage as I am working throughout my day. If you’re not sure whether or not you need one of these, let me just say, if you’re shooting longer than 3 hours at a time, you definitely need one.
The best way to capture behind-the-scenes vids and sneak peek photos without missing a second of your couple’s wedding day. Though your main focus on a wedding day will always be your couple it’s important to keep your business in mind as well. Taking some fun photos and videos throughout the wedding with your phone is an awesome way to not only overserve your couples but also stock up on some content for your business. It’s 2022 you guys, everyone needs a fanny pack in their life, for real. I LOVE having my fanny pack for wedding photography, whether I need to do a quick card change mid ceremony or a groom has a blister on the heel of his foot I know I’ve got all the gear I need within arms reach. Having a handful of my emergency supplies on me on a wedding day is a lifesaver and has come in handy SO many times. This specific fanny pack holds SO many things while not being too bulky. If you’re in search of one for your business, head to my affiliate link to snag one of your own.
Sometimes, you just need a little extra hype on your belt. When getting everyone pumped in the wedding party for photos I LOVE having some music on to set the tone of the session. It’s such a fun way to get everyone’s energy up when you need to and it really shows in the photos. I love the Clip since you can clip it onto anything (get it?) making it incredibly portable and one of my favorite pieces of gear for wedding photography.
Last but certainly not least on my list of gear is this handy portable charger. Like the fanny pack this thing has been a total lifesaver for my wedding days more times than I can count. Wedding days are long and as a result, you’re going to be going through a LOT of battery power between camera batteries, flash and your phone. This little guy can charge your phone 6-8 times (!!) and for venues without an easily accessible wall plug having one of these is key. Having a portable charger is also amazing if you have to travel for a wedding and want to pack light, which makes this a must-have in my photography gear.
Like I said there is a LOT that goes into wedding photography, and as a photographer being prepared for anything is a must. Having the right gear on hand is a huge part of that and will help make sure that you are ready for any experience that comes along with wedding photography. Looking for more photography tips?
