Laura and Ashley’s intimate wedding at their venue in Humboldt Park Chicago was nothing short of perfect. Laura and Ashley met on Hinge in July 2020 days after Ashley moved back from Colorado. Their conversation was awesome, but due to the pandemic they decided to have a video date first, it lasted 5 hours… From there, as Ashley put it, everything has just felt “right” being together.
Ashley and Laura originally were thinking of eloping Downtown in January. When we met for lunch to talk about their elopement plans, I told them that there’s a high chance that we’re all going to freeze outside if they elope outdoors in Downtown Chicago. After asking them what is important to them when they think about their elopement, I gave them a few alternatives that they can do to celebrate their marriage with a few of their friends and family.
They decided and booked a peerspace rental in Humboldt Park instantly for their intimate wedding while we were waiting for our lunch . They really appreciated my help because they were going back and forth with no end in sight when it was just the two of them planning their elopement.
Laura and Ashley decided on having a first look for their wedding day so they could have a moment alone together before their ceremony. I LOVE first looks for my couples. They provide such an intimate space for them to get mentally prepared for their day as well as give them some alone time. When you have a wedding or an intimate wedding, there are always so many people involved and it can be hard to soak in the day with your partner.
Initially planning to elope outside in Chicago this past winter, Laura and Ashley opted for an indoor space to avoid the cold. While they didn’t have everyone that made up their community in attendance, they did have a close knit group that they truly considered to be family. Once they arrived at their ceremony space, the brides hid away before the ceremony so that they could walk down the aisle together.
The Humboldt Park peerspace location was so gorgeous and turned out to be the perfect spot for Laura and Ashley’s intimate wedding. With it being absolutely freezing (Chicago in January) we took the majority of our photos inside. Because we picked out the peerspace location together, I knew from the photos that there would be plenty of opportunities inside for their photos.
We had so much fun taking some portraits around peerspace’s beautiful location. To finish off their wedding day we braved the cold for the last bit of our time together to take some portraits of the two of them outside. Laura and Ashley’s day was was seriously such a joy to be a part of. The love and intention that these two put into their wedding day was so special to be a part of.
