Aimee and Luis crafted the perfect wedding day to celebrate their love for one another. Their intimate wedding took place in their backyard in Chicago and nearly the entire wedding was DIY so it truly felt like them! Between the food trucks, the backyard bonfire vibe, Luis’s sister singing and playing guitar for their ceremony, and everything in between there is just SO much to love about this wedding day.

Getting Ready at Home

Aimee and Luis got ready separately in their home prior to their wedding so that they could have a first look. I love first looks on a wedding day and theirs was so sweet and personal. Seeing their faces light up once they saw one another was such a sweet moment and a perfect start to their wedding day. We took some time to get some portraits of the two of them before heading outside to meet up with their wedding parties. Both Aimee and Luis had their closest friends and family in their wedding parties and it was so much fun seeing them all so excited to be a part of their backyard Chicago wedding! Before long their guests started to arrive and it was time to get ready for their ceremony.

Their Chicago Backyard Wedding Ceremony

As I mentioned before Aimee and Luis went DIY for their wedding and put together their day mostly on their own. They did such an incredible job decorating their Chicago backyard space for their wedding with string lights everywhere, beautiful flowers all around, and candles lining the aisle for their reception. Their reception was truly beautiful and there were so many happy tears shed throughout the ceremony. It was such a special and intimate experience documenting Aimee and Luis surrounded by all of their favorite people to celebrate the love the two of them share for one another. After they said I do Aimee and Luis headed inside with their wedding parties for a quick drink while the backyard was arranged for their reception.

Fairy Lights and Food Trucks

Just like for their ceremony the two had a gorgeous set up for their reception and with it starting to get dark out it was time to turn on the string lights! Aimee and Luis really had everything you could ask for from a backyard wedding in Chicago. Between the drinks, the bonfire, the music, and food trucks from 5 Squared Pizza and Stan’s Donuts it really was the perfect evening! Aimee and Luis spent the rest of the night dancing and celebrating their wedding with their favorite people under the stars and string lights.

Ultimately, when it comes to a backyard wedding in Chicago Aimee and Luis’s takes the cake and it was seriously the perfect intimate wedding day. They put so much love and intention into their wedding day and it was such an incredible experience to be a part of!
