If you’re from the Midwest you know that the winters here can be brutal, but it’s still one of the best times of the year.  As a photographer though I see so many couples who want to do some cuddly photos over the winter, but the weather tends to be just a bit too brutal to have an outdoor session.  Lucky for you my past couples and I have put together some pretty awesome ideas for indoor photography sessions to keep ya warm this winter but also capture that cozy winter mood.

In-Home Lifestyle Session

In-home sessions are a super intimate and fun way to have photos done all in the comfort of your own home.  Your home is often the place where you feel the most like yourself, so you’re really able to get comfortable and be yourself in front of the camera.  These sessions are on the simpler side, you want to show off what your day to day loving looks like.  Whether that’s rock paper scissor matches to see who takes the dog outside next or just some group cuddles in bed, these indoor sessions are some of my favorites for the winter season.  

An in-home session is a great idea for anyone and everyone. Whether you just got a new pup, you’re moving out of your current place or just moved into a new one. Even without any of these life changes an in-home session is the perfect way to capture who you and your partner are at this moment. Life is full of changes and it’s SO important to be able to look back on and reminisce about what was going on in your lives at the time.

Steamy Couples Session

These are honestly some of the coolest indoor sessions I have had the opportunity to photograph throughout my career.  Focused on vulnerability and intimacy Steamy Couples Sessions are so much fun and are the perfect opportunity to spend some time focusing on you and your partner’s connection.  Sessions like these can take place at home, at a hotel, in an Airbnb or really any space you have access to that has a bit of privacy.  

These sessions are all about showcasing you and your partner’s love for one another in its most true and uncompromising form. These sessions are empowering, they’re intimate and vulnerable, and we have SO much fun. My goal is for my couples to have epic photos showing off their true authentic selves with one another by the end of the session.

Date Night Out!

I love when my couples are into date nights because they make for some of the most fun sessions! There are SO many cool places that we can go for your indoor session, whether it’s an arcade bar in your neighborhood, an indoor mini-golf course a few suburbs over, or a trip to your all-time favorite coffee shop all make for some amazing photography sessions. Keep in mind that almost all places will require that you call ahead or have other special rules when it comes to photography like Salvage One, Emporium, Gilt Bar and The Art Institute.

These sessions are geared more towards adventurous couples. Those that want to get out and experience the city or their hometown to the fullest and document the times they had there. If you have a favorite date night spot that means a lot to you or you want to get out there and experience something new this idea for an indoor session is perfect for you.

Just because it’s freezing cold outside doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to get some amazing photos together celebrating your love.
